Telekom Expects Netmyne Service
To Rake In RM50m
By
MALCOLM ROSARIO
TELEKOM
Malaysia expects its web application service business, Netmyne
Exchange 2000 (Netmyne E2K) to rake in at least RM50 million in
revenue by the end of this year.
The
company believes its Netmyne E2K's offerings are so compelling
that it is expecting a multifold increase in the number of registrations,
particularly from small and medium-sized industries (SMI) for
its range of Application Service Provider (ASP) services.
Telekom
Malaysia chief executive Datuk Dr Md Khir Abdul Rahman said Netmyne
E2K is expected to attract tens of thousands of sign-ups from
organisations.
He
said these services are attractive because of reasonable charges,
software upgrades, security, training, customer support and data
storage backup and that many businesses are expected to take up
the Netmyne offering.
Netmyne
is currently servicing more than 3,000 customers for hosting services
which include web, server, commerce, media and community hosting
complete with payment gateway and merchants' e-commerce engine.
With
its latest web-application service, customers will now have accessibility
to enterprise messaging and web collaboration service as well.
"We
are offering enterprise-class IT services to SMIs in a single
package and at an affordable cost.
"These solutions address the high cost of buying and maintaining
hardware and software applications to run the business and the
high overheads and turnover of skilled IT staff that would normally
be out of the SMI's reach," Md Khir said.
Telekom
Multimedia believes the cost savings offered by Netmyne E2K are
so significant that a business could save anywhere between 60
to 70 per cent of their cost in IT investment.
With
yesterday's launch of Netmyne's Web Application Service, Telekom
Malaysia believes Netmyne now is moving into another phase of
its offering as a Web Application Services Provider (WASP).
Netmyne's
inaugural Web Application Services include e-mail, netmeeting,
calendaring, personal workplace, group workplace, directory services,
contacts and instant messaging.
All
these features are equipped with more advanced and efficient capabilities
that result in better communication and collaboration online.
"For
Telekom Malaysia, it is necessary to embark on ASP as more and
more of daily business routines are already going online, and
we don't want to be left behind in this ASP revolution.
"For
businesses, the ASP type of service will become an integral part
of business operations for efficiency and effectiveness," Md Khir
said.
